I am a multi-disciplined artist and my practice takes a no holds barred approach. All manner of processes including painting, collage, stitching and printmaking are employed no matter what the surface. Almost works all have some element of transference. This mark-making, stamping, repetition is fundamental to my work.
Broadly speaking I make work about human beings’ impact on their environment for good and ill. It leads me down a number of paths. At times my works are bold and playful at others dark and brooding. I want to make my point on several levels from the instantaneous to the more subtle.
I work across a number of themes concurrently. My recent work has been centred around history, place and politics with current obsessions: endangered animals, war and our little boy soldier Kim Jong Un.
I suppose I see myself as an expressionist of sorts, though I am reluctant to be put in a box of any kind.
