I was born and grew up in Wellington, New Zealand. After graduating with a BA in Visual Communication Design I had a brief stint in advertising before succumbing to the well known antipodean need for travel!
Having completed and greatly enjoyed the obligatory six months ‘doing’ Europe I pitched up in London, as I had always intended, and joined a small Soho based agency which gave me the chance to get to know the place and develop my own ambitions.
In 1991, I set up my own graphic design business which, over the following 15 years grew into a successful and busy agency with some major clients.
Meanwhile, my artistic inclinations were nagging away relentlessly as they have done all my life. Over the years I have tried to maintain a level of activity but inevitably my working life dominated and so there came a point where I felt there had to be a change or I’d burst with frustration.
So my partner and I decamped to an old farm house in Umbria partly to provide more time painting and printmaking and partly to enjoy growing and harvesting the olives from our grove the fruits of our labours can be seen at Casa Margherita. Clearing the land has been arduous but fulfilling. It has provided the ideal backdrop and stimulus and I have found time to pursue my art as you can see from this gallery.
